We enjoyed our time in the Lyrebird Cabin at Two Styx very much. Everything we needed was provided and the cabin has clearly been set up and maintained well. The range of cooking options (outdoor barbecue, microwave, electric frypan, stove with hot plates, oven and griller) made life very easy.Even though it was November, we still had a couple of cold nights, and we enjoyed the easy-to-light wood stove, not to mention the supply of drywood.The walks that have been established on the property are a great feature, so there’s plenty to do, or you can just sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet. We didn’t have any kids with us, but I imagine the games room would be appreciated by them.Even though there were storms, fog, and cold weather we had little rain at Two Styx and there were starry skies most nights. This gave us the opportunity to do some sky photography, with varying degrees of success. That’s not something you get to do much in Brisbane, where you’re lucky to see anything but the moon and the brightest stars. We also heard at least 2 Boobook Owls calling to each other one night. There’s one thing that intrigued us. On two nights we could hear an animal (owl, quoll??) making this unearthly screeching/howling noise, hard to describe. Any idea what it could be?So thank you for the opportunity to experience the peace and tranquility of Two Styx. We’d like to come back some time.
