Yep we enjoyed our stay and the challenge of the New England high country’s cold weather; the Lyrebird cabin was cosy and held up well to the strong winds.
There were a few small issues as discussed – the fridge lower door shelf was broken, as was the bathroom towel rail (tape held up ok though). I also noticed the chimney seemed to have reduced airflow when starting a fire and later sounded like it had a creosote fire a few times – it may just be my experience though.
I bucked a lot of wood and split plenty of kindling for our last morning’s fire start, however we kept the fire going overnight so left these preparations for the next guest. We also replenished the long matches and firestarters as we finished what was there on night 1.
Although my wife doesn’t like the cold and our daughter will be an adult soon hence moving on, we’d happily recommend your cabins to our friends and did want to book the house with another family some years ago however this never panned out – such is life and it’s great to see how you’ve improved the property and offer a great experience, location & price point between camping and staying at the NPWS cabins.
I also forgot mention how I enjoyed the fantastic books provided with local information & history; finding the source of many of the names & places I’ve seen was profound and I plan to purchase these myself shortly.
